Happy Halloween, everyone. I just wanted to do a quick post and wish everyone a safe Samhain and congratulate the winner of our zombie shirt contest. Trisha Butrum will be cozy watching Night Of The Living Dead in a limited edition shirt from RIPT Apparel! Congrats to her and for the rest of you, it’s not too late to get your mitts on one of these limited edition bad boys. They are available for ten dollars until midnight tonight from the RIPT website so before you head out begging for sweets go snatch one up for yourself! And don’t forget to make it in in time to check out the premier of The Walking Dead on AMC tonight! Happy haunting!
RIPT Apparel is a t-shirt website that sells limited edition shirts from a variety of artists and designers, and when I say limited edition I mean VERY limited. Every day they post a new design on their site and it is available for a mere twenty-four hours before it is retired (or “sent to the graveyard” as they say on the site!) They have done a variety of designs and have done some very cool horror themed stuff in the past. They recently had a design featuring Shaggy from Scooby Doo trapped in a Jigsaw style trap, Scooby snack just out of reach. Fun stuff. Another great thing about these shirts is the price. Most t-shirt companies charge anywhere from twenty to thirty dollars each, or more. RIPT has a nice and tidy $10 price tag attached to all of their shirts. So you get a kick ass limited edition design for a great price.
This Sunday, on Halloween they will be releasing the above zombie design to the public, and we have your opportunity to save yourself a couple bucks and win one for free! All you have to do to enter for your chance to win is leave a comment below with your name and the name of your all time favorite zombie flick. That’s it!The winner will be chosen at random very early Sunday morning and will receive a coupon code via email to use that day on the RIPT Apparel site for their free zombie shirt. Just remember, the shirt is only available until midnight Sunday night, so you HAVE to claim your prize that day or it’s gone forever. Easy enough? I thought so. So leave your comment and good luck!
NOTE – Contest is open to US residents only! Sorry!
The folks over at ADULT SWIM have a new(ish) mix up for free download on their site. Most of the mixes they have released have leaned towards hip hop, but this time it’s all metal and features sixteen brutal tracks from some of the heaviest bands around. Included are tracks from Skeletonwitch, Pelican, Death Angel, Zoroaster, Black Tusk and eleven more. Grab the free download here and raise up the goat for ADULT SWIM!
I’m surprised it’s taking me this long to post this, but last week I received something very cool in the mail from the folks over at Burnt Reindeer Films. It’s the first volume of INFINITE SANTA 8000 on DVD. It collects the first six episodes of the animated web series and looks a little something like this…
But wait, when you flip it over… what’s this? That’s right, a quote from little old me. Check it out…
Hell yeah! You have no idea how excited I am to have that on there! Huge thanks to Greg and Michael for choosing to use that on the cover! The DVD was released last weekend at the Rock & Shock Festival but I’m not sure if they are planning on selling them through their site or not. As of this writing they are not available online. So if you want to get your mittens on a copy I suggest heading over to the site and dropping them an email to find out how. Tell ‘em Murphy sent ya!
The fourth episode is up now and the guys have also posted pictures from the aforementioned Rock & Shock Festival on the Drive-In Horrorshow blog. Check ‘em out here.
What more do you need in a splattastic sci-fi horror film besides parasitic aliens, zombies and boobs? I’ll wait while you think of something…
PARASITIC is the upcoming film by writer/director Timothy Martin, and from the looks of the trailer it has all that and more. Martin has a solid reputation for his make-up and special effects work (he recently worked on the upcoming prequel/remake/whatever the fuck it is to The Thing) and has chosen to use practical effects with some amazing results.
After a strange meteor destroys a communications satellite and crashes into Tampa Bay, a sickly looking fish finds itself the meal of a beautiful nightclub bartender named Val. Moments later, as the bar is closed and locked tight, the infected Val becomes ill and all Hell breaks loose. Hidden from the others, the parasite she has unknowingly eaten rapidly grows, bursting from her throat and becoming the puppet master for the chaos ahead. With no possible way to reach help or escape, the trapped club-goers must fight to survive and plan to destroy the creature before it is let loose into the world.
PARASITIC isn’t exactly treading new ground here, but that’s alright. While the story is a familiar one, the creature effects look fantastic, and that will more than make up for the rehashed story.
PARASITIC is currently in post-production and will be hitting the festival circuit soon. For more images from the film check out Undead Backbrain.
Magnet Releasing, the folks responsible for bringing the US such films as Let The Right One In and Monsters, have just announced their latest acquisition, BLACK DEATH. Directed by Severance director Christopher Smith, and starring Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings), BLACK DEATH looks promising to carry on Magnet’s reputation for bringing the goods. I mean, come on, a gang of crazy bastards tearing through the English countryside, armed with an iron maiden, going on a witch hunt? Count me in!
from the press release -
Bean stars as Ulric, a grim emissary from the Church, who leads a young monk (Eddie Redmayne) and a band of violent vigilantes and war veterans through the English countryside. Armed with blood-chilling torture devices, their mission is to stamp out suspected paganism in a village that remains untouched by the black plague, even as the rest of Europe grimly succumbs to the pestilence.
“BLACK DEATH simmers with a kind of terror that’s all the more haunting cause it’s real,” said Magnet SVP Tom Quinn. “It’s another great example of why Chris Smith is one of the most versatile directors working today.”
“BLACK DEATH is a film that I am immensely proud of, and I’m so pleased it has found such a great home for its US release,” said director Smith. “On the one hand it is a violent historical drama and on the other, a terrifying horror movie, in which the more realistically I shot the past, the more it reflected the present. A time when in spite of the fact people were dying of the plague, they still found the time to torture and kill each other.”
The third episode in the INFINITE SANTA 8000 series is up and things are starting to heat up, literally! Check out the yuletide mayhem below. Also remember to check out the site for INFINITE SANTA merchandise and more. The next episode in the ongoing series is scheduled to be online October 24th, so as always I’ll have it posted here.
Fifteen days ’til Halloween, Halloween, Halloween…
I got an email the other day from a rapper named MC Sex with a link to his latest music video for a track titled ‘Mayonnaise and Ketchup’. The video is a montage of the bloodiest scenes featuring women in horror films. This video has clips from EVERYTHING. From straight forward horror like House of 1000 Corpses, The Descent, and High Tension, to Japanese Pinky Violence classics Delinquent School Boss and Lady Snowblood. Not to mention a couple dozen others. Machine Girl, Martyrs, School Of The Holy Beast, etc etc – it fucking rocks!
Now here’s the thing, my computer is in pieces, so I’ve been using the wifey’s laptop and the audio went out on it the same day I watched this video. SO, I have absolutely no clue what the song actually sounds like, or what it’s about. With a name like ‘Mayonnaise and Ketchup’ by a guy calling himself MC Sex, whose logo is a microphone and two turntables made to look like a penis, well…. odds are it might offend some people.
And while it may be utterly irresponsible to post a video without knowing the lyrical content… Oh fucking well – the song could be complete filth, but the video itself is brilliant! So take a looksy and enjoy the bloodiest hip hop video ever! (and let me know if the song sucks or not!)
